the bombs exploded seconds apart. president obama calling it an act of terror but saying no group foreign or domestic claimed responsibility for the attack. at this point, joining me now is jeffrey deedee, a security consultant, trained with boston police s.w.a.t. team. thank you for being with us. what we know now about the bomb, apparently in a pressure cooker device, both devices hidden in a backpack, low to the ground, perhaps placed on the street. what do you make of what you're hearing about the devices? >> well, i'm alarmed by what i'm hearing about the devices, because i stand -- i got back last year after nine months in afghanistan, and these pressure cookers are a tactic, technique that is used by the taliban and by al qaeda in afghanistan. very effective weapons, they try to pick the pressure cookers up wherever they can, and they use them to make their ieds. and quite concerned that this is a ttt as they call it in the military that -- >> ttp. >> tactic, technique and -- but the ttp -- procedures -- things of the taliban that we're now seeing here. that doesn't mean it was the

, including 8-year-old martin richard, and krystle campbell. >>> president obama will travel to boston on thursday. >>> we have the remains of a pressure cooker, a shredded black backpack and some kind of ball bearings or metal pellets. what can we read into this at this stage? >> you are looking at what they have in this investigation, which is the bombs themselves. apparently two very similar if not twin bombs placed in black nylon bags that they are recreating as much as they can. at quantico. the fbi lab. it is hal, who did this and why that they really do not have any leads on. you are looking at forensic evidence, it will be very important when they catch this person. but in terms of trying to find that person, i think it will be more difficult as they recreate the bombs. they will have to figure out where some of this material may have come from. perhaps this will spark a tip from somebody who knows about somebody was working with pressure cookers or maybe has just put trust them. but right now, it all seems to be centered around the forensics and putting this all back together,
announcing today that president obama will travel to boston the day after tomorrow to speak at a service at boston's cathedral of the holy cross. the president branding the attack as an act of terrorism, but officials don't know quote whether it was planned and executed by a terrorists, foreign or domestic, or the fact of a malevolent individual. finding out -- that law enforcement is poring over as we speak. what officials are trying to get from the public, that's next. look at them kids. thoughts on that? >> i don't think that that's going to happen. the obama administration has been clear, they're distancing themselves from that concept. you've got an american citizen. we don't have dzhokhar going abroad in training. his brother apparently did. but dzhokhar didn't. and dzhokhar is going to be tried as an individual on his own right. so i think the chances of this ending up as an enemy combatant are very small. >> but you've heard that because of high security concerns they would like to question him for a period of time, albeit briefly, before mirandizing him and reading him his rights. how long can they do that? how far can they go with those questions? >> well, that's a very good question. because the longer we go, the less likely there is that there's a public security issue here. one thing that the defense will certainly raise is the remarks of the police chief of watertown in which he said these are the only two guys, we're done. now the argument from the government will be well, he wasn't informed. but, you know, that's going to be played out pretty significantly
